Gifts In Will

Include us in your Will and leave a legacy of love for families of sick and premature babies

Incorporating Life’s Little Treasures Foundation (LLTF) in your Will is choice that has great impact.

This gesture can significantly improve the lives of our families who have started their journey with their baby in a neonatal unit.

By supporting us you provide vital support for the foundation’s mission to assist families during a time of great emotional and financial strain.

We offer a range of services, from practical assistance to emotional support, helping families navigate the complex journey of caring for premature or ill infants.

The LLTF team identifies and delivers targeted products and services to help reduce the very real issues that affect families:

Reduce social isolation

Parents can spend weeks or months with their babies in hospital, which can make them feel cut off from regular life.

Improve mental health outcomes

Parents with babies in the NICU are much more likely to suffer from feelings of grief, depression and anxiety than parents of healthy full-term babies.

Reduce financial hardship

Extended hospital stays carry the associated costs of travel, accommodation, parking, food, childcare for siblings and loss of earnings, which can take a heavy financial toll on families.

We’re on the journey with you

Over 48,000 babies are admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) or Special Care Nurseries (SCN) every year with premature birth being the most common cause of sickness and death in newborn babies.

We know that parents are often totally unprepared for this situation and all the emotions that come with it. It can be a heartbreaking and exhausting journey that can take an emotional and psychological toll.

Whether it’s a support group for concerned dads, care packages for overwhelmed mums, a list of do’s and don’ts for well-meaning family members or even financial assistance for those in need – we have a range of services to help.

Our vision and mission

Vision

To be Australia’s leading provider of critical information, education, and community support to ensure optimal outcomes for families who have had the life-changing experience of having a premature or sick baby.

Mission

To provide families, their support networks and health providers with the tools to ensure optimal outcomes for families of premature and sick babies.

All services are backed by leading health professionals and have been developed based on the lived experience of our staff and parent volunteers – all of whom have a unique understanding of the fears, hopes and uncertainties that come with having a baby in neonatal care.

Felicia Welstead, CEO

We advocate for your family

We advocate to ensure better outcomes for families. This includes meeting with government officials at all levels – local, state and federal – to explain the difficulties families endure when their baby starts their journey in NICU or SCN. We also raise awareness by attending and seeking speaking opportunities at meetings or events.

If you would like a staff member to speak at your next event, reach out to us.

I love volunteering for Life’s Little Treasures Foundation! My days at LLTF are my favourite days of the week. When we can’t find another use for a donated item, or it is faulty, I will unpick these items and remake them so that they can be loved and used by one of the many families that LLTF supports each year. At other times I help pack Precious Prem Packs and resource orders for hospitals. It is great to feel part of a team that helps families in such need.

– Maureen, Crafter and Warehouse Volunteer

I am the volunteer Craft Connections Admin Coordinator. In this role I sort through the beautiful handmade items that we receive and enter these into the database and so we can send thank you emails or letters to our wonderful Craft Connections volunteers. I love to see everyone’s gorgeous creations and looking at all the tiny items that I know families will treasure!” As an avid knitter and sewist, I take great honor in being known as the Crafting Specialist at LLTF. I really enjoy coming into HQ once a week to unpack all the parcels and check that items are up to the hospital standard. This is so important because of the nature of the needs of tiny babies in hospital. I spent over six months in hospital with my twin daughters, in both NICU and Special Care, and came to appreciate the need for support for parents in this position.

We have celebrated many milestones with our long-lasting Major Partner Britax and our partnership has enabled us to provide essential resources and connection to our community for many years. Always committed to the wellbeing and safety of children and protecting them right from their very first car ride home, Britax donates their Newborn Comfort Inserts to our flagship product Little Treasures Welcome Packs and supports our nine Walk for Prems events across the country.

Being able to share in other parents’ challenges and highlights through LLTF’s NICU Connections events really helped us in knowing we weren’t alone, could ask questions, could share our experience and gave us the light at the end of the tunnel.

Our Baby Bunting team is extremely proud to partner with Life’s Little Treasures Foundation for another year. Life’s Little Treasures does incredibly important work supporting parents and families of sick or premature babies, which is why we find their purpose so inspiring and aligned with our own core values. We are delighted to partner with the Foundation for the eighth year, and we look forward to walking with our communities for this great cause.
