Family Assistance Program
Helping families struggling financially to pay for fuel, food and accommodation when in hospital
We recently developed the LLTF Family Assistance Program to provide families with a food, fuel and accommodation voucher to the value of $100.
Through this program we want to ease the financial pressure on families so parents can concentrate on spending time bonding and caring for their baby.
“There are so many families who need this support, especially regional families who need to travel long distances, and that’s why we work closely with the social work team in hospitals to ensure we can help families as soon as they need it.”
– Amy Baker, Programs Coordinator
To access this program, please speak to the social worker in your hospital as they will have all the information required to put forward an application.
Natasha and Matt’s story
Natasha and Matt’s son Aaron was born eight days after his mum Natasha was brought by ambulance from country Victoria. Aaron weighed a tiny 748g at exactly 25 weeks gestation. Unfortunately, Aaron’s twin brother Thomas who was born soon after Natasha arrived at the hospital did not make it.
It was a tough time for this family and the trips back and forth to country Victoria added financial pressure to this family’s stay so LLTF were able to help them just a little with a Financial Assistance package.
“Thankfully some of the financial strain of living away from home was eased through the very generous support that Life’s Little Treasures provided us. We received a voucher that helped us with petrol and food” – Natasha, Mum to Aaron
