Breast Pump Program – presented by Medela
Thanks to our generous Partner, Medela, we will be gifting Medela Swing Maxi Double Electric Pumps to families in NICU who do not have access to a breast pump to help support them on their feeding journey
Parents of premature and sick babies often need to establish their milk supply using a breast pump whilst in hospital and then at home.
If their baby is too unwell or underdeveloped to establish feeding directly at the breast, this can sometimes mean they are expressing milk for weeks, even months if their baby requires a long stay in hospital for medical care.
Thanks to the success of the pilot program, Medela has generously agreed to increase its donation to 278 units every year.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Medela to provide this vital support to parents of premature and sick babies. This donation will make a significant impact on the lives of many families, enabling them to continue their feeding journey and providing the best possible start for their babies.”
Felicia Welstead, CEO, LLTF
How does the program work?
We work closely with the social work team and lactation consultants at our partnering hospitals to ensure our services help families when they need them most. Breast pumps are allocated and distributed through our hospitals to ensure that those that need them most are supported.
“It is a great honour and a pleasure for us to partner with Life’s Little Treasures in their support of parents on their prematurity journey, often a journey they haven’t anticipated. At Medela, we always try to do more as we know that the need is great. This Breast Pump program ensures parents have access to pumps when they need it most, supporting them in having the best chance in establishing their milk supply during such a difficult time.” Jarrod Percy, Managing Director, Medela Australia
If you are a patient at one of our partnering hospitals, please speak to your social worker about the application process or ask the social workers to contact Amy Baker, National Programs Coordinator at LLTF.
