The Knowledge Exchange for Health Professionals

External Courses

Below are courses recommended for health professionals for those that want to broaden their knowledge in the field of neonatology to improve the experiences of babies and their families.

NIDCAP Australasia and FINE Training

The Australasian NIDCAP Training Centre in the Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care (GCNC) began its journey in 1998, and since then numerous staff members have trained to become NIDCAP Certified Professionals.

As a NIDCAP training centre we offer local and national training for healthcare professionals using the Newborn Individualised Developmental Care and Assessment Program (NIDCAP) framework, and lead the way in Australia in the promotion of neurodevelopmentally supportive practices.

Our ultimate goal is that the training centre will improve the experiences of neonates and their families through the provision of structured neurodevelopmental care education and support.

Level 1 FINE Training: FINE Level 1 | Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (nsw.gov.au) delivered by NIDCAP is an educational pathway in family-centred developmental care that is suitable for all disciplines in any neonatal centre. The FINE Level 1 program content explores the theory and evidence that supports the application of neuro-developmentally supportive care. Since 2020 the FINE Level 1 program facilitated by the Australasian NIDCAP Training Centre has evolved to meet the needs of healthcare professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
